A Love Story

Of all the people in the world Abby could never get why she was pretty to people. She was really short; she had big lips, green eyes, sandy auburn hair, pale white skin, and a petite little body. She couldn't help but to marvel at herself while trying on a dress in her favorite store: Charlotte Russe.
"Hmm, well I don't look any different. I haven’t gotten any taller; I haven’t gotten any fatter...yet. I don't feel any different either. I wonder...has Valentin changed since......"
Abby's eyes filled with tears and she quickly wiped them away, she looked back towards the mirror hoping that Jenny hadn't seen her; but like everything else in her life that wasn't the case.
"Abby...he hasn't changed since you got pregnant. Dude, it's not like you guys are gonna mutate or anything," Jenny giggled "come on! It's not like he's gonna look different because of that...what's he gonna do...grow ten inches! Hahahaha!" she crumpled over and and hit the floor, laughing hysterically.
Abby couldn't help herself and joined in. How many years had Jenny and her lived next door to each other and shared moments like this? Then she laughed even harder; she remembered the day when she had moved in about thirteen years ago when she was six. It was a cold winter day in the middle of January, the Earth smelled of ice, the trees smelled of cold wet leaves, and all she could think of was her new life. She was bored outside watching her parents unpack when a little girl who looked around her age came up to her and said 'Hi my name is Jennifer, but everyone calls me Jenny. Do you wanna meet my older brother his name is Valentin...heehee you know like Valentine's Day? Where did you move here from? Are you gonna stay for a long time? You wanna come over and play...we have an XBOX!' Abby thought, well she seems nice...I guess I'll go with her.
She stood up as Jenny held out her hand, they walked together hand in hand as they walked past the driveway on to the next lawn when Abby saw the cutest boy she'd ever seen...he had milky-chocolate colored hair, soft brown eyes with little specks of gold in them, beautiful full lips, a smile that made her want to scream, and he was taller than her by about three inches. Jenny waved at him and he waved back, Abby couldn't help her curiosity and asked 'Jenny...who's that?' Jenny squeezed her hand and said in the softest voice 'That's Valentin, my older brother...and your future husband.' That was the day she met Jenny and her older brother Valentin. Jenny looked a lot like him but they didn't have the same facial features. Jenny had deep brown eyes that were so dark they cold be coal, she had wide stretched lips that Abby thought had laughed many times in their short existence, and she had one of those cute little noses that you only see on movie stars.
Even after that day Abby never found out how Jenny had discovered that from the moment Valentin and Abby saw each other they were in love. From there on there wasn't a day that Abby, Valentin, and Jenny didn't hang out after school. Their families hit it off too, their parents were always planning hiking trips, picnics, and all kinds of other activities together, and so in reality they hardly ever did spend time apart. All these memories brought Abby back to her and Valentin's first date, they went out to eat, they went to the movies, and at the end of the night... when it couldn't have been any more perfect Valentin and her just stood there looking at each other like idiots. Ugh, man why won't he kiss me...grrrr! Dude, I'm like so in love with you. Why won't you just do it so I won't be standing here like a retard? Gosh, sometimes she wondered if Jenny and her were separated at birth. She was talking about it without Abby even having to say anything!!!
"Awww Abby, member when you and Valentin had your first kiss? That was sooo cuuute!" Jenny made kissy noises as Abby was brought back to reality.
"Yeah, how could I forget? I mean the whole freaking' family was there man." Abby had to bite her bottom lip so she wouldn't burst into giggles, she remembered looking at her and Valentin's family as they all stared out the window just waiting for them to kiss, she also remembered being mortified by embarrassment when Valentin suddenly cupped her face between his hands and planted one right on her lips.
"Hahahaha, you gotta admit that was hilarious. I mean seriously, we couldn't help but to be excited for you two. It took you guys FOREVER to realize you were just sooo in love," Jenny looked away as she saw pain flash across Abby's face "not that I mean that like if it was in the past. You know he still loves you......he asks me about you everyday."
"Yeah," Abby said barely above a whisper, she could feel herself about to cry again when she admitted "yeah I know."
It had become a long dead silence between them when out of nowhere Abby's cell rang for what seemed like the billionth time that day. She looked at the front screen and slowly but carefully exhaled, sat down, and answered the phone.
"Hello?"
"Abby? Babe, I miss you and we need to talk about our baby. I wanna be there for him; I wanna be there for you both. You know I love you no matter what and that I'd do anything for you," he paused and Abby let out at breath that she didn't even know she'd been holding, "I talked to the O.G. today and I told him about us and- and I think I'm gonna get jumped out... Just for you babe."
Abby's face lit up, she smiled so big that her cheeks began to ache, "Oh Valentin, I don't think I've ever been this happy! I feel like my heart is going to explode out of my chest...meet me at my house in an hour. Ohmygosh you've made me so happy I can't find the words to explain it, I'm so sorry I was mad at you. I love you." As Abby spoke the words not only did she say them but she felt them.
"I love you too. I love the both of you." As Valentin hung up the phone Abby placed her hands on her belly and sent a silent thanks up to god for helping her with Valentin. She caressed her belly lovingly and thought See baby, daddy does love us! I can't wait for you to see him, you'll be the most loved baby in the world...you'll see. We both love you very much.
The wind blew through the autumn leaves and on her face. It was a healthy smell, kind of like the smells of the earth after its rained. There she sat, just waiting, and so mad she would've cried...but she didn't, how was crying going to help? It didn't change anything. Abby had told Valentin to meet her at her house over three hours ago but he never showed up. A tear rolled down her cheek and hit the white-wooden floor of her porch, to anyone around her it seemed like nothing...but to Abby a tear was like a deafening shatter in the melody of her life, it was like admitting defeat, it was like giving up on everything and everyone. But as she got more and more frustrated she realized where he could be: What a douschebag! I'll bet he's with those stupid idiots Chris and Rozalin. Those two are always up to no good ever since they decided to join that stupid gang with Valentin. They were all just a bunch of stupid guys before they got into all this crap...what happened? She kept asking herself why they had ever joined in the first place. Valentin was a senior who was never late and went to all his classes, he was in honors classes, and he was studying to become an Architect, Rozalin was a senior who went to class and did his work, and Chris was a junior who was studying to become a mechanic. Why would they wanna throw away their whole lives for nothing? Abby was lost within her thoughts when she was interrupted by a noise...
That was when she heard the car.
"Damn dude! Hahahaha you got messed up damn......oh shit... uh Rozalin I think we should..." Chris' sentence drifted off as Rozalin and him pulled up to Valentin's house and saw Abby there.
"Ahhh shit man, there ain't no way in hell Imma stay for the shit that's coming for him, hell no Valentin you're so screwed." Rozalin looked back towards the passenger seat and unlocked the door.
As Abby saw Rozalin get out of the car she instantly stopped crying, she wiped the back of her hand over her eyes and made sure there was nothing left, not only did she hate to cry but she was not about to let Rozalin and Chris see her cry...if they saw her they were gonna give her so much crap about it later. The red Escalade stopped right in front of Valentin's house. Abby was so mad that she had to literally inhale and exhale to calm herself down, she wanted to beat the living snot out of him! Her hands were balled up into fists as she began to walk towards the car. Then she stopped dead in her tracks as Rozalin and Chris carried Valentin out of the car. He was bloody from his nose, his eye was swollen, his lip was busted, and he was limping. He fell to the ground and Abby practically flew to his side.
"VALENTIN!!! What happened to you!? What the eff did you get yourself into?"
Even as weak and as beat up that Valentin was Abby could still see the boy she fell in love with. Valentin layed his head in her lap and cradled her face in his hands and said "I told you babe...I'd do anything for you. If you asked me for the world; I'd give it to you without a second thought. If you asked me to give you all my love; I'd give it unconditionally. If you wanted to spend the rest of your life with me; I'd do it in a heartbeat. If you asked me to choose you...I already did," he breathed in heavily as he sat up resting one of his hands on his ribs, "I left everything: the gang, my old life...everything for you. For our baby. For us."
Valentin slid his hand through Abby's hair and gazed into her eyes, just like when they were younger, and pulled her close...it was just a kiss at first, soft as there lips barely brushed against each other but as Abby intertwined her fingers with the fingers from his empty hand she kissed him more passionately. They were so close she could feel his body against hers; he was holding her so tight that she began to feel lightheaded...in a good way. They kissed and kissed until they had to come up for air and even then they only let go for a split second. As they pulled back they into each other's eyes and still breathing on each other's lips they smiled and said:
"I love you."

"Do you hear that?" he whispered into the cold, breezy night.

"Hear what?" I said.

"You can't hear your heartbeat through the pillow?.

I looked up towards the ceiling and and breathed in the cool air before turning towards him. "No...why?"

"Put your head against the pillow and I swear you'll hear it better." his whisper made me want to laugh, not because he was being funny, but because his voice was so serious [which he never was] that it was actually kind of adorable.

As I layed my head against the pillow I felt the bed move under his shifting weight. I looked around feeling awkward and self-conscious, I could feel his eyes on me but I couldn't bare to even imagine how stupid I looked. What am I supposed to be listening to?

That's when it happened.

I had finally decided to turn and face him when out of nowhere... he kissed me!!! We kissed for along time and then he let go and whispered, with a slight touch of smugness "Now I'm sure you can hear your heartbeat... 'cause I sure can."

Thank Jesus Christ Almighty that we were in the dark because I could feel my face getting hot, my cheeks getting red, my mouth in flames, and my body shaking of happiness! It was in that exact moment that I realized it was the happiest I'd ever been in my whole life... all thanks to true love's kiss. I couldn't freakin' believe it man, my heart was pounding so bad! I really wished he wasn't staring at me the whole time I was having my own conversation in my head, and he wasn't. He kissed me again but this time I kissed him back; feeling and knowing that "Every little thing was gonna be alright."(-Bob Marley)

Friendship Prompt

Loyalty, trust, and kindness is what you need to do to be a good friend. You need to be loyal to your friends by staying by their side and not betraying them. If you say you won't date someone they they love and then you do it anyway, you're not a loyal friend. By having trust you can tell each other anything! Let's say you know a juicy secret, but you can't tell, you keep it to yourself and keep the trust your friend has in you by telling it to you. Kindness is also a very important key to being a good friend. If your friend is crying , you don't keep on walking and act like nothing's wrong, you stop and ask "Are you okay?" If you are loyal, trustworthy, and kind you are considered to be a good friend to me!

RING! RING! RING! RING!

Audrina sat there glaring at the phone as Angel's number popped up for what seemed the millionth time that day. She grabbed the phone and launched it at the wall.

CRACK!!! but to her surprise the phone didn't break!

Audrina decided she'd wouldn't answer the phone just to hear what he'd say on the answering machine.

"Audrina I know you're there. I'm sorry. I really do love you it's just that-"

Audrina had had enough she picked up the phone and was decided to give Angel a peice of her mind.

"Shut-up Angel, now you listen to me! Leave. Me. Alone!!! It's obvious you don't want me anymore so stop using me!"

"But Audrina-"

"But NOTHING!! Goodbye Angel...forever. Don't talk to me ever again!"

Audrina slammed the phone on the ground and put it on -Silent All-. She knew if she didn't answer he would come to her house but she didn't give a crap.

Next thing you know there he was walking up her stairs onto her porch and knocking on her door. As Audrina opened the door there he was: bluish-green eyes, spiked brown hair, pale white skin, and perfect little lips. She couldn't help but wonder about how different he was from when they were together. Now he always wore Dickies, burgundy polos with white sleeves under, red vans, and-well at least he was still cute.

"What do you want Angel?" said Audrina scowling.

"Just please get back with me! I'm sorry I really do love you."

"WHATEVER, I'm with Miguel now and we're happy so bye dork!!"

Audrina slammed the door in his face...

WHACK!

She ran upstairs grabbed his picture and flew back downstairs to break it with a hammer.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

She smashed the picture until it was completely ruined, then she burst into sobs because of what she'd done.

On monday morning Angel cornered Audrina at her locker.

"Audrina we need to talk."

"WHAT" she said annoyed "why do we need to talk?"

"I was wondering...you know to make it up to you...well you wanna go to prom with me or what?"

Audrina put her back against her locker and looked Angel in the eyes. Why can't I just tell him how I feel! Ugh, this is what I've been waiting for...but why can't I just tell him that I love him, that I need him, that I liveand breathe for him...OH YEAH...because I KNOW he'll never say it back.

Audrina spoke quietly, almost at a whisper, as tears filled her eyes.

"I'm with Miguel. We're going to prom, TOGETHER. And there's nothing you can do. I'm sick of you using me and then breaking up with me."

Angel put his arms on either side of her to block her from leaving. Just then Migule came with a vicious look on his face.

"What are you doing with my GIRLFRIEND???" asked Miguel "who do you think you are?"

"I was asking-" Angel was then silenced by Audrina who had ACCIDENTALLY stepped on his foot.

"Let's go Miguel, somethign around here," she said turning towards Angel's direction "makes me feel sick to my stomach." With that Audrina and Miguel left (hand in hand) down the hallway.

"Baby you my everythang, you all I ever wanted. We can do it real big, bigger then you ever done it." played in the backround at prom.

"Fifteenth table to the left. Yeah that's the one." Miguel said pointing to the table they were assigned.

At the same time they sat down in came Angel, tuxedo and all.

Fury filled inside of Angel as he watched Migule and Audrina kiss passionately. He was so mad he found the closest thign in sight and WHAM he punched the wall so loud everyone turned in utter shock, especially Audrina and Miguel.

"What the hell is wrong with you! Are you insane." cursed Miguel to Angel.

"Get away form her!!!" screamed Angel "can't you see she's only with you to get over me?!"

"Shut-up that's not true...it's not my fault you f****d up when you had YOUR chance!"

Before anyone could stop them, Angel threw a punch and Miguel's head went back and fists began flying!!!

BAM! POW! BONK!

Angel threw Miguel to the ground, punched him in the nose, and kept swinging without stopping! Then Miguel took a left hook to Angel's eye and knocked him back.

Everyone chanted like animals as the fight raged on, Audrina kept trying to interfere but no one would budge! She had almost given up until she heard a wretched sound of pain come from the middle of the crowd.

"Oh sh*t I think he broke it! Damn, I wouldn't move my arm if I was Angel..." yelled a student.

"Ohmygod I think I just saw bone ewwwwww! Gross."

"Someone get Audrina, she's gotta see what Miguel did to her love!"

Audrina ran through the crowd as people pushed and shoved their way to a better view, as soon as she got a view she screamed in terror!

"Angel! ANGEL! I'm sooo-I'm so sorry" Audrina wept on his chest as they lay on the floor "I never wanted this to happen. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I swear my heart's gonna break-ANGEL-please answer me!!!"

"Audrina, I love you and I'm sorry please take me back," he said cradling his arm "I SWEAR I love you...you mean more to me than my own life!"

This book's genre is teen drama because it takes place in a girl's life when she's in going into and during highschool.


The main character in my book is named Melinda. In the book Melinda called the cops on a party she was at and now everyone hates her, it's even harder for Melinda because the party was at the end of the summer, so when she goes into highschool everybody knows what she did... but what no one knows is WHY she did it. During the the school year she barely ever talks to anyone... and when "someone" does talk to her she becomes very frightened. The book speaks of Melinda's struggles to survive through highschool and life.
One of my favorite parts is when Melinda finally finds something she loves through art. In my book she likes art so much that she turns even the dullest of thignd into her own works of art. One of the reasons why I like this part is because she puts a lot of what she feels throughout the whole book into her art, and most of it really relates to the theme.
My recommendation is that anyone between sixth through eleventh grade who likes teen drama or likes hearing stories of people overcoming their struggles should read this book.

My earliest memory of reading was in kindergarten when I read The Cat In The Hat, I used to like that book a lot. My biggest reading achievement was learning how to read, the reason I'm most proud of this is because without reading I wouldn't be smart at all. My favorite reading memory was when I was at Andrew's house and we [well technically me] were outside reading while have a picnic at the picnic I was reading Wuthering Heights, the reason this is my one of my favorite times is because for once we were very peaceful. My favorite way to read is on my bed, outside, with music on, and before I go to sleep. If I were stranded on an island the TOP 5 books I would bring with me are: Twilight, Breaking Dawn, Wuthering Heights, My Sister's Keeper, and Romeo and Juliet. I would choose Breaking Dawn and Twilight because they're the most interesting to me out of the Twilight series. I would choose Wuthering Heights because it's one of my favorite love novels and I love it. I would choose My Sister's Keeper because I love the story and I like the fact that it's very intense. Finally, I would choose Romeo and Juliet because it is some of Shakespeare's finest work and I LOVE a good forbidden love story.
